Celebrating the two-year launch anniversary of our leading SARC Toolkit designed to revolutionise the way Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) operates throughout England.

Our Impact:

In 2022, we assisted 11,900+ individuals seeking advice via telephone and conducted more than 5,150+ in-person SARC appointments.

In 2023 to 2024 (to date), we have helped over 17,139 individuals seeking advice via telephone and overseen more than 6,186+ in-person SARC appointments.

Two years ago, Mountain Healthcare embarked on a transformative journey by launching a leading SARC Toolkit designed to revolutionise the way Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) operate throughout England.

The development of the SARC Toolkit was a collaborative effort of our National SARC and Secure Estate Director, Emelia Spencer and Benchmark Management Consulting, a RCI Group company that specialises in health and social care benchmarking, data and intelligence. Benchmark is the official research support team of the NHS Benchmarking Network.

As we celebrate this milestone, it’s essential to reflect on the significant impact this toolkit has had on information sharing, data management, and the overall quality of care provided to survivors of sexual assault across the UK.

About our SARC Toolkit

The Toolkit offers a robust platform for integrating data from various sources, including medical records, forensic reports, patient demographics, team response times, referrals/aftercare, and support service documentation. This integration ensures that all relevant information is accessible in a centralised, secure system.

The analytics feature of the Toolkit provides insights on trend analysis, identifies areas for improvement, and enables evidence-based decision-making.

Celebrating the Impact: Two Years of Transformative Change

Since its launch, the SARC Toolkit has profoundly impacted the functioning of our SARCs across England. Here are some key achievements and outcomes over the past two years:

Our Impact:

In 2022, we assisted 11,900+ individuals seeking advice via telephone and conducted more than 5,150+ in-person SARC appointments.

In 2023 to 2024 (to date), we have helped over 17,139 individuals seeking advice via telephone and overseen more than 6,186 in-person SARC appointments.

The SARC ToolKit has significantly streamlined service delivery processes, improving outcomes for survivors of sexual assault. Because of its centralised platform for data management and information sharing, our SARCs now operate more efficiently, leading to:

  • Reduced Waiting Times: Streamlined processes have minimized delays, ensuring that our service users receive timely medical care and support.
  • Effective Resource Allocation: With comprehensive data insights, our SARCs allocate resources more effectively, ensuring that critical services are always available when needed.
  • Comprehensive Support: Our SARCs service users benefit from a more integrated approach to care, with healthcare providers, counsellors, and legal professionals working together seamlessly.
  • Accurate and Timely Reporting: Forensic and medical data are shared promptly with law enforcement (depending on patient consent), aiding in the accurate and efficient processing of cases.
  • Evidence-Based Practices: Our SARCs continuously refine their protocols and practices based on data-driven insights, ensuring they are always aligned with best practices.
  • Improved Informed Decisions: The collected data are analysed and used to inform our service design and broader government strategies to prevent and respond to sexual assault crimes in the UK, providing valuable information to our NHS and Police Commissioners across our national contracts.

The efficiencies gained through the toolkit have enabled our SARCs to provide more personalized and comprehensive care to service users promoting healing and recovery. Hereby, improving patient outcomes across the UK without compromising the quality of care.

Emelia Spencer, Our National SARC and Secure Estate Director said: “Two years ago, we embarked on a journey with our sector-leading SARC toolkit, and today, we celebrate its second anniversary with immense pride and gratitude. The toolkit has been an overwhelming success, transforming how we approach patient care.

It has not only revolutionised our collection processes but also empowered us to make data-driven decisions, ultimately enhancing and supporting survivors of sexual assaults across the UK. We keep our patients at the forefront of all that we do, always

As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to extending our reach and impact, now supporting even more survivors with the inclusion of Thames Valley and West Midlands as we have been awarded the contract to provide SARC services in these regions.

Here’s to two years of progress, compassion, and unwavering dedication to providing expert trauma-informed care.”

As we celebrate the two-year anniversary of the SARC Toolkit, Mountain Healthcare remains committed to continuous improvement and innovation. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements and maintaining a steadfast commitment to patient-centred care, Mountain Healthcare aims to ensure that SARCs continue to provide the highest standard of support to survivors of sexual assault.
