New Contract for the West Midlands Adult Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs)
30 April 2024
From 1st May 2024, the West Midlands Adult Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) will be managed by Mountain Healthcare (for an initial five-year period). These services have previously been under G4S management.
This contract includes the following SARCs:
- Horizon SARC – Birmingham (West Midlands)
- Grange Park SARC – Stoke-on-Trent (Staffordshire)
- Blue Sky Centre SARC – Nuneaton (Warwickshire)
- The Glade SARC: Hub – Bransford (Herefordshire and Worcestershire); Spoke – Telford (Shropshire) (West Mercia).
Mountain Healthcare is a leading Health and Justice provider, experienced in the provision of specialist care for children and adults who have experienced sexual assault, including rape. Mountain Healthcare brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the local health economy, which has been developed through its existing provision of the West Midlands Regional Children and Young People Sexual Assault Service (CYPSAS).
The West Midlands Adults SARCs (Horizon, Grange Park, Blue Sky Centre, and The Glade) will continue to provide integrated clinical and forensic care to adults aged 18 and over and young people aged 16 and 17 (where clinically appropriate) who have experienced any form of sexual assault.
SARC services are available to the public for free, 24/7/365, by appointment only. The service provides acute trauma-informed healthcare and support and forensic medical examinations.
We also offer direct provision of specialist sexual violence fast-track counselling sessions, and referrals to Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs), as well as referrals into aftercare services, which address physical and mental health, emotional and social well-being, and wider ongoing needs.
Service users can be referred by the Police or they have the option to self-refer directly to the SARC service; this means that they can still receive important healthcare, without Police involvement (forensic evidence can be stored at the SARC if they later want to convert to a Police referral). Agencies can contact the SARC for advice and discuss referrals into the service with their consent.
Anyone can contact the SARCs for advice and discuss the options available to them.
